The Grattan Institute has just published a new report detailing the current level of access to specialist care throughout Australia.The report titled 'Special treatment: Improving Australians’ access to specialist care' by Peter Breadon, Jessica Geraghty, Dominic Jones, Elizabeth Baldwin has made five main recommendations:

1. Train the specialists Australia needs
2. Invest in public clinics where they are needed most
3. Modernise public clinics
4. Reduce unnecessary specialist referrals
5. Reduce extreme fees
